A pioneer in high-end guitar production in Japan, this brand still has a large number of fans. The guitars have a beautiful appearance with high workmanship, are easy to play and always stable, and above all, match the tastes of the Japanese people in terms of both tone and playability. They are also highly regarded overseas as the top of the Japanese brands.
Masaki Sakurai was born in Tokyo in 1944. He graduated from Sophia University, Faculty of Science and Engineering in 1967, and at the same time joined Kohno Guitar Manufacturing, where he learned guitar making.
In 1988, he won the first prize at the 4th International Guitar Making Competition in Paris.
The model he won at that time has become one of the most popular models in his current lineup as the PC (Paris Competition) model. After Masaru Kohno passed away in 1998, he took over the workshop and continued to make guitars under the 'Sakurai Kohno' label, while at the same time continuing to make guitars under his own brand, Masaki Sakurai. The brand is characterized by its high crafting precision, use of high-quality materials, and beautiful appearance.
The guitars are especially suited to the physique and tastes of the Japanese, and their outstanding ease of playability and stability have gained great popularity overseas as well, earning them the same international reputation as Kohno guitars.

[Description]
The top model of the Sakurai Kohno brand, Maestro 2022, is now in stock. After Masaru Kohno passed away in 1998, Masaki Sakurai brushed up the “Sakurai Kohno” line as oneof his own lineups, inheriting Kohno's basic design and acoustic concept.
This model is based on a simple but complex bar structure with almost vertically crossed bars, which was developed after Kohno's various innovative design attempts, to which Sakurai added his own acoustical approach. Although cedar wood is used for the sound board, the overall sound is lucid, bright, glossy, and well-balanced, and is one that is well equipped with the characteristics of this brand. In addition to the stress-free sound, the functional ease of playability ( aided by the 640mm short scale) is also perfect, making this a model that can be recommended to various users regardless of genres.
There are some scratches on the sound board and near the bottom, but the overall condition is clean. There are no cracks or other major repairs.
