[Profile]
Born in Germany in 1955. After graduating from university, he studied guitar and lute at
several workshops, and in 1985 he passed the national examination under the Meister
system and obtained the national qualification Geselle. He attended Jose Luis Romanillos'
guitar making seminar in 1988 and was influenced enough to determine the direction of his
guitar making. In 1989 he earned the title of Meister and founded his own independent
workshop. He continues his training under Romanillos and is devoted to traditional Spanish
guitars originating from Torres, and especially to the production aesthetics of Hauser I. He
creates a guitar that is based on the guitars of these maestros and has a tasteful
appearance and tone.

[Description]
We are pleased to announce the arrival of a Hauser I model 'La Cincuenta y Tres' made by
Gerhard Oldiges in 2008. He asserts that 'the best guitars have already been perfected by
historical master craftsmen,' and he is convinced that the traditional Spanish construction
method is the key to their acoustics. Hermann Hauser's high level of sophistication is still
one of his ideal forms (partly because of the emotional resonance as a fellow German) and
is at the center of his aesthetic. In this work, as with all of his guitars, he does not stick tohis own tastes, nor does he try to imitate (both in appearance and sound) the work of a
master craftsman, but rather completes it with a natural and elegant appearance that gives
it a truly profound quality.
The sound has a solid and heavy feel, and the acoustic design allows for a homogeneous
sound from the bass to the treble. The identity of each voice part is clear, and the sound
has a unique three-dimensionality that can only be heard on Hauser guitars. The softness
typical of Oldiges has been added to this model, making it a gentle, romantic, and very
attractive Hauser model.
There are a few scratches around the soundhole and on both sides of the fingerboard.
There is also some paint wear on the back and sides. There are no cracks or other major
repairs or modifications.
