[Profile]
From the time of Jose Ramirez I (1858-1923) to the present Jose Ramirez V, it has been one of the most important brands in the history of Spanish guitar making for over a century, and is still a major workshop with worldwide operations. The guitars produced during the era of Jose Ramirez III (1922-1995) gained wide popularity and continued to attract guitarists and guitar fans around the world. In the 1960s, master craftsmen such as Paulino Bernabé and Mariano Tesanos worked as chief artisans, establishing a unique workshop system that enabled mass production while retaining the quality of fine handcraftsmanship.
In 1964, the '1A' was introduced as the brand's top-of-the-line product, using cedar for the sound board instead of spruce, and a double-layer construction with cypress laminated on the inside. The string length was extended to 664mm, and the finish was changed from shellac to urea resin to dramatically increase durability and produce a unique sweet and lustrous tone called 'Ramirez tone'. The striking appearance of the bright red coloring gained unprecedented popularity in the history of guitars.
Ramirez III's son, Ramirez IV, began working as an apprentice in his father's workshop at the age of 18, and was officially recognized as a craftsman in 1977. In 1988, he and his sister Amalia were entrusted with the management of the brand, and while continuing their father's production philosophy, they developed a sales strategy more in tune with the needs of the times and further expanded their market share, until their death in 2000, only five years after the death of Ramirez III.
Since the 2000s, the popularity has been concentrated on the models made in the III and IV eras, which are still remembered for their sound and the virtuoso performances of Andres Segovia, and the 1960s models in particular, which were stamped with the initials of the craftsman who made them, are still played by fans of the past.
[Description]
Jose Ramirez IV Model 1A C650 1963 Traditional 1998 is now in stock. It was made only 5 years after Jose Ramirez III passed away in 1995 until Jose Ramirez IV passed away in 2000, and is therefore very rare and valuable among Spanish guitar fans.
The tone of the guitar embodies the Ramirez tone of days gone by, especially the thick and lustrous sound of the treble notes, which is a unique appeal of this brand. In the late 1980s, Ramirez shifted from the 664mm scale to the standard 650mm scale. The neck is easier to grip and the string height is set lower, making it more playable for the left hand. The finish is the original urethane coating.
