[Profile]
Born in Pennsylvania, USA in 1932, his father is Spanish. He first got a job as an aircraft maintenance technician, but when he was 23 he first listened to playing the guitar, and was deeply fascinated by the tone, then he devoted himself to the study of classical guitar. He also traveled to his father's hometown of Spain, and in 1962 after returning to the United States, he quit his job as a technician and opened a small workshop to start making guitars in earnest. In 1973, he relocated his workshop to the suburbs of San Diego, California, and began to concentrate on making guitars. He dramatically increased the number of productions by establishing the precise technique and detailed production process that he acquired during his work as a technician. At the same time, we will continue to maintain high quality by all handmade, and with the combination of elegance and luxurious finish, we will quickly grow into a luxury guitar brand.
It is a style that makes you feel the Madrid characteristics such as Jose Ramirez, and it is characterized by a rich romantic sound that mixes his unique precision and a strong desire for sound balance. His model using cedar is especially popular, and along with Ramirez, he has established the brand value as a cedar top guitar. Using good materials such as sequoia cedar and Brazilian rosewood that have been carefully selected, the interior is finished without any deviation with extremely high work precision. Combined with the extraordinary aesthetic sense of appearance, it established a global position as the finest guitar in the 1980s and 90s. Although the number of productions has been limited since the 2000s, he is still active in production with his son John Martin.
[Description]
This is Jose Oribe's 1978 Calidad Suprema, which is in very good condition. As a brand that mainly produces models using cedar wood for the top, it became so popular that it was compared with that Jose Ramirez for a while, but this work has exactly the characteristics of Oribe. First of all, the appearance that gives off the rich elegance that is characteristic of his work fascinates us. The top is now a precious sequoia cedar, and the back and sides are also selected from high-grade rare material Brazilian rosewood. The internal structure is asymmetrical as a whole, and the details show Oribe's unique ingenuity. Resonance is set just below G.
‥
The sound is slightly sticky and firm, which is unique to Sequoia cedar, and the sound is thick and dense, and it resonates very richly. And this also shows his pursuit of playability with a neck angle and string height setting that makes it extremely easy to play, and it hardly makes you feel that it is a 658 mm string length. The neck shape is a thin D shape. There is a slight scratch on the surface plate, but there is no repair history such as cracks. The ebony finger board shows some wear on the 1st to 7th frets, and the frets are slightly reduced, but it does not affect playability. The neck condition and the bobbin winding operation condition are also good. Considering the age, it can be said that it is a very good product. The tuning machine is equipped with the original SCHELLER. The attached case is a hard case of Cibelez made in Spain. It also comes with original specifications and an instruction manual.
