Profile
Born in Madrid, Spain in 1949, Ángel Benito Aguado began his professional life as a furniture maker. In his mid-twenties, however, he turned his attention to guitar making. A pivotal moment in his career was his collaboration with José Miguel Moreno, a renowned Spanish virtuoso specializing in early music. This partnership greatly expanded Aguado’s knowledge of historical instruments such as the vihuela, lute, theorbo, and baroque guitar.
Through this exploration, he developed a unique approach that traces the lineage of the Spanish guitar tradition from Torres to the present day. While his deep admiration for Antonio de Torres is unmistakable, Aguado's guitars are not mere replicas. Instead, they are the result of his own meticulous research and craftsmanship—beloved by guitarists who cherish the traditional sound of the classical guitar.
Description
This guitar is a Torres model crafted by Ángel Benito Aguado. It features a diamond rosette, one of the most luxurious designs found on original Torres instruments. The construction of this model closely follows the original, from the internal bracing to the body design.
Notable features include the herringbone purfling, a saddle inlaid with South Sea pearl dots, and Torres-style tuning machines with round buttons, handcrafted by Fustero in Spain. These exquisite details are executed with a level of quality that is sure to impress even the most devoted Torres enthusiasts.
