[Profile]
Juan Lopez Aguilarte was born in Sevilla, Spain in 1941. When he was young, his family
moved to Granada, where he began working as a furniture maker. He eventually went to
work for Manuel Bellido, a local guitar maker, who taught him how to make guitars (some
say he also learned from Antonio Marin at that time). In 1980, he established his own
workshop in Granada, where he continues to make guitars, but is now retired.
[Description]
Flamenco Blanca (white) model made by Juan Lopez Aguilarte, 2002, is now in stock. This
guitar has a rough and hard sound, with a strong sharp sound due to its overall treble-
oriented acoustic balance. The finish is a delicate shellac, which is typical of the Granada
School in Spain.
There are some cracks repaired on both sides of the fingerboard and a patch reinforcement
on the treble side. The sound board also has some scratches from playing.
The back of the neck has many scratches caused by fingernails, but all of them are
commensurate with the age of the instrument.
