[profile]
Born in Florence, Italy in 1956. A maker representing modern Italy. Having spent close contact with the excellent work of a wide variety of craftsmen and many excellent works in this historic city, he had a rich imagination from an early age and was good at his craftsmanship. At the age of 15, he made his first guitar, and after meeting Argentine maker Ricardo Brané, he decided to live by making guitars in earnest while studying mechanical engineering at university. But shortly after Brané died at a young age and lost his mentor, he began his quest for himself. He first visited his beloved contemporary makers in Spain, France, England and even the United States. He got valuable advice on guitar making from very front-line luthiers like Romanillos, Freta and Ramirez III. In particular, the legendary French luthier Robert Bouchet (1896-1986) and Daniel Fredrich (1932-2021) not only advised Tacchi on how to make it, but also how to make tools and jigs suitable for making guitars. And he learned how his inspiration and imagination contributed to his artistry in making guitars. That aesthetic is still an important foundation for him.
In 1985, at the'Concours International des Facteurs de Guitare'held in Castellet, France, he won the First Prize for 'artistic' and the second prize for 'sound'. This led him to be recognized as an excellent guitar maker for a new generation in Italy. In 1989 he introduced his original and most important model, the “Coclea”. It is a work that combines an extremely detailed geometric and mathematical approach with traditional construction methods, as well as his deep knowledge and taste for musical arts. Continuing his insatiable quest, he then used a scientific approach to study the secrets of Antonio de Torres (1817-1892)'s method of making guitars in his last years, creating a very unique model, 'Thucea.' A European spruce is placed in the center of the sound board, and it consists of four pieces of Western Red Cedar, which is a combination of woods of different densities on both sides. It maximized the vibration efficiency of the soundboard, and achieved results in terms of both sound output and long-distance reachability. Another important lineup of his work is the Omaggio series for his beloved great ancestors, with models of Enrique Garcia, Francisco Simplício and Robert Bouchet. It is an item that is loved by guitar fans because of its extremely high degree of perfection that goes beyond its recognition as a replica.
His guitars, even when it's a homage to Spanish and French guitars, have a spacious sound, a warm tone for the listener, and a deep yet firm sound. The feature is full of charm that induces the inspiration of the player.
He continues to produce vigorously even now, and his guitar is used by professional guitarists all over the world, from veterans to young people, mainly in Italy.
[Description]
This is the latest limited edition model of the 2021 'homage' series. The label says “Omaggio alla scuola Spagnol”, which is a homage to the Spanish masters he truly loves. The Sound board is a 4-piece configuration reminiscent of his “Thucea” model, and the back is a Cypress 3-piece configuration. The slightly smaller body with beautiful proportions is based on Arias's work. The tuning machine is a custom model of Allesi by Tacchi. An ancient style is pursued, and the characteristic Rosetta is inspired by traditional Egyptian patterns and Torres designs. And with the eye-catching deep and glossy finish of shellac, the whole is incredibly elegant.
