[Profile]
Born in Queensland, Australia in 1981. He learned woodworking from his father, Kim Hancock, who comes from a Danish woodworking lineage, from the age of 11. In 1997, at the age of 16, his instrument won first place in the Nestle Australia Nescafe Big Break, and he decided to pursue a full-fledged career in manufacturing. During a trip to the U.S. in 1999, he had the opportunity to see many famous guitars firsthand, and was particularly impressed by Hermann Hauser's guitars, so he began building a replica of the Hauser I 1937 model used by Segovia. In 2007, he attended a master class in Spain led by José Luis Románillos, where he learned more about the traditional Spanish method of making guitars.
Currently, he has a workshop as Hancock Guitars with his father, Kim, and brother, Dane. The lineup of Hancock Guitars, which utilizes the tastes and techniques of each member, includes archtops and acoustics, and has gained high popularity in Australia and other countries as a high-quality brand that focuses on handmade products.
[Description]
We are pleased to announce the arrival of the new Hermann Hauser model 2023, made by Sean Hancock. This is a standard model in his lineup, a delicate and powerful tribute to Germany's greatest master, based almost exclusively on the 1937 Segovia model, but with his own modestly added touches, and a daringly simple return to tradition that shows his deep pride. In addition to the German character of well-defined grain and natural balance of each note, it has the acoustic characteristics of a Hauser guitar, where refined single notes create great depth and perspective. The sound image of this work has a cotton-like feel unique to maple, and it has a very classical look, as if old elegance and freshness are coexisting. Playability is good, and string tension is moderate. It is responsive, so both hands can play it without stress.
