[Profile]
Born in 1953. He is a maker with a workshop in Frankenhardt, Germany. He was devoted to traditional Spanish guitars and traveled to Granada, Spain, to study guitar making, gaining insight in the workshops of master craftsmen such as Marin and Ferrer. He then briefly worked for guitar maker Hofner, where he earned the title of Meister. In the 1980s, he set up his own workshop, and by the 1990s, his name was well known around Europe. Jozsef Etovos used his work on an album in which he played the complete 'Gordberg Variations' arranged for guitar, and it quickly became known worldwide. Special care is taken in the selection of materials, and only materials that have been aged for 40 years or more are used. All of them are finished with shellac. In addition to Etovos, his instruments are used by guitarists such as Pavel Steidl and Marko Topchii.
[Description]
Made by Karl Heinz Rommich 2019 is now in stock. The appearance of pale lemon spruce combined with red Latin American rosewood is the kind of color contrast that this maker likes. Rather than a Germanic massiveness, there is an aspect that seems to project a longing for Spain. The sound, also based on the Spanish sound, is permeated with Rommich's sensibility, and this is what makes it so appealing.
The sound has depth, and each note is well grained, forming a clean line from the lowest to the highest note, which can be said to be Germanic in nature. Although there have been many excellent German guitar makers who have produced modern-style guitars, Rommich's style remains traditional.
There are no cracks or other major repair history. There is a playing scratch around the sound hole. Also, there is some discoloration on the paint that may be caused by the support device.
