Are there any important considerations for Tax-Free shopping?
Please review the following guidelines before purchasing items at our store:
- Before Buying
- A “TAX FREE SHOP” refers to a store where the 10% consumption tax is waived for international customers. This differs from “DUTY FREE,” which pertains to import duties on foreign goods entering Japan.
- Ensure that the items you purchase or your carrying package can be transported by airplane or other means of transportation.
- We do not provide information regarding customs duties and import regulations for other countries. Additionally, some countries may have restrictions or prohibitions on imports, and we do not have details on these restrictions.
- Tax-Free procedures must be completed at the store where the goods are purchased and cannot be combined with items bought at other stores.
- Tax-Free procedures must be completed on the same day as the purchase. Tax-Free processing for items bought on different days is not possible.
- When Departing from Japan
- Avoid opening the package. You may be required to pay tax upon departure. Ensure that Tax-Free items are taken out of Japan within 30 days of purchase.
- Do not remove or misplace the proof of purchase document, as it will be collected by Customs upon departure.
